I'm watching the world cup, and I see all the people in the stands, not paying attention to me. And the familiar realization dawns yet again on me. Very few people actually care about the radio.
I mean, there's definitely a vocal group, but when you consider the aggregate sum of everyone, most people are just living their lives, probably not trying to pay attention to mine.
The vocal group though is pretty loud, but its like a 67 meme. I can turn my twitter private, and go dark except for my thoughts, and it wouldn't change a damn thing.
My thesis is that many people just want to fit in, and when it comes down to actually turning off the radio, there's not a whole lot of enthusiasm about it.
People just want to be part of the game more than they want it to stop.
